Solids

Lucy started on solid food yesterday. Quite the messy experience! She started to get the hang of it towards the end. She was not having it for the first few bites though. It's so fun watching her grow and learn new things. Such a fun adventure and I'm loving every minute!

4 Months

Lucy had her 4 month check up yesterday. She does really well at the doctor. Even for her shots she cried when she got them up when I picked her up she was ok. The tough part came a couple hours after we got home. She was so soar from the shots that she basically slept all day. Poor little girl. She really didn't want to be held either because it hurt her so whenever she was awake it was just pitiful. She's feeling so much better today though. But here are her stats

Height: 24 inches (birth was 19.5 inches)
47th percentile

Weight: 11 lbs 9 oz. (birth was 6 lbs 7 oz)
14th percentile

She's average height and skinny. I don't think I've ever been either in my life.

Happy Halloween!

We just got back from our ward Halloween party and it was pretty fun. It was probably our only Halloweeny activity of the year since Lu is too young to go trick-or-treating. We played the toilet paper mummy game and kyle got to be the mummy. My stupid camera was dead so I didn't take any pictures until we got home. There were a couple more fun games that kyle got to do while I held the babes. I had a good time and Lucy loved watching all the people while they played the games. But here are some pictures that I took of her in her ballerina costume when we got home. Enjoy my beautiful baby!

Baby Einstein

My wonderful friend Breanna got Lucy a baby Einstein video. I didn't know they make them for babies her age. But this week I had some more stuff around the house to do after she had woken up from her nap so I thought I would give the video a try. I set up her bouncy chair by the tv and turned the video on and she loved it! It's like a half hour long and I couldn't believe it kept her attention the whole time. It's called "Baby Mozart" so it's just random videos of stuff like animal puppets, kids toys, trains and different shapes and colors with music in the back round. I even walked by to check on her once during the video and she was staring at the tv smiling. It was so darn cute!

Lucy is here!

My precious little girl has finally come!... a month ago. I guess I have a good enough excuse to be behind at updating this thing since I'm a mom now. Well here's the story...
The night before I went into labor kyle and I were sitting at home and he got tired before me which is only happened like 3 times in our marriage, never since I've been pregnant. So he went to bed around 11 and I decided to have a snack and watch a little tv til I was ready for bed. I ended up going to bed around 12:15. Then at 12:37 something snapped in my body and I had my first contraction. I hadn't had one at all in my pregnancy til that point but I knew that it was it. So I laid in bed for about an hour timing them. They were about 12-15 minutes apart. Then I decided to get up and move around to see if it continued. So I get up and straightened my hair. My mom thinks that is hilarious. But they kept coming about the same speed and at this point it had been about 2 hours so I woke Kyle and my mom up and told them what was going on. Neither of them believed I was in labor. So we sat around longer and kept timing them. They both ended up taking showers and got ready while we waited. At one point I started throwing up after a contraction and that was our sign to get going and at about 4:30 it was time to go to the hospital. So we got to the hospital and I was admitted and everything. When they checked me the first time I was dilated to a 6 and I got my epidural. Those things are a miracle. Then less than an hour after my epidural my wonderful nurse Gretchen (my moms really good friend) checked and I was at a 10 and ready to push. So a started pushing and an hour and a half later my sweet little girl was born at 11:57 am on July 8th, 2010. She was 6lbs 7oz and 19.5 inches long and everything I could have ever asked for.

Being a mom thus far has been absolutely amazing! I love my little girl. Its incredible having a little thing that is perfect in everything sense of the word. She's such a good sleeper. She'll go about 4-6 hours between feedings at night and about 2 hours during the day. She's getting more awake and alert from day to day. She's been lifting her head up, crawling up my body and standing in m lap for a couples weeks as well as smiling. My favorite thing she does is probably her sleeping. She will open her eyes, look around, make faces/noises and smile while being dead asleep. I could seriously watch is for hours. She was blessed yesterday and Kyle did an amazing job. He is doing great being a dad. It seems like all I'm doing these days is asking him to go get stuff for my while I'm holding/feeding the baby or handing her off to him so I can get stuff done or giving her to him when it's mom's bed time but baby isn't ready yet. He seems happy to do it all though and I'm very grateful for all that he does. I love my small but happy family. Unfortunately the time has almost come for us to get back to real life and go back to Utah with Lucy and be parents on our own. I'm sad to leave home after being here so long but kind of excited for the adventure. Life couldn't be better.

First Post

Kyle keeps asking me when I'm going to get a blog and I figured that I am soon going to be a mom so I have to have a blog right? Well here it is blog world! This first post will be dedicated to my pregnancy since I'm sure thats what the majority of my future post will be about, the baby!

I am currently 34 weeks pregnant with a little girl due July 17th. Pregnancy is an interesting world. I dont remember not being pregnant at this point. I had bad morning sickness at the beginning, a smooth middle and the end is pretty interesting. At 27 weeks I developed a pregnancy rash called PUPPPs (Pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy) Its a rash that covers you from head to toe and the only cure is delivery. It is very rare and even with the small odds its even more rare to get it carrying a girl. And it usually doesnt show up until around 35 weeks. Im just a medical marvel I guess. Well because of this rash my midwife has set me up to do fetal monitoring once a week. My last appt was on Tuesday. It was an interesting one. To start out my amniotic fluid was lower then before. And during the monitoring I had a small contraction, at that same time the monitor slipped and it lost Lucys heartbeat. So I then I had to stay until I had another contraction so they could see how her heart reacted. Total I was there for over an hour and I have to go back tomorrow to check my fluid level again and what not. So thats the pregnancy up to this point! I can not wait to meet my little girl!
