Lucy is here!

My precious little girl has finally come!... a month ago. I guess I have a good enough excuse to be behind at updating this thing since I'm a mom now. Well here's the story...
The night before I went into labor kyle and I were sitting at home and he got tired before me which is only happened like 3 times in our marriage, never since I've been pregnant. So he went to bed around 11 and I decided to have a snack and watch a little tv til I was ready for bed. I ended up going to bed around 12:15. Then at 12:37 something snapped in my body and I had my first contraction. I hadn't had one at all in my pregnancy til that point but I knew that it was it. So I laid in bed for about an hour timing them. They were about 12-15 minutes apart. Then I decided to get up and move around to see if it continued. So I get up and straightened my hair. My mom thinks that is hilarious. But they kept coming about the same speed and at this point it had been about 2 hours so I woke Kyle and my mom up and told them what was going on. Neither of them believed I was in labor. So we sat around longer and kept timing them. They both ended up taking showers and got ready while we waited. At one point I started throwing up after a contraction and that was our sign to get going and at about 4:30 it was time to go to the hospital. So we got to the hospital and I was admitted and everything. When they checked me the first time I was dilated to a 6 and I got my epidural. Those things are a miracle. Then less than an hour after my epidural my wonderful nurse Gretchen (my moms really good friend) checked and I was at a 10 and ready to push. So a started pushing and an hour and a half later my sweet little girl was born at 11:57 am on July 8th, 2010. She was 6lbs 7oz and 19.5 inches long and everything I could have ever asked for.

Being a mom thus far has been absolutely amazing! I love my little girl. Its incredible having a little thing that is perfect in everything sense of the word. She's such a good sleeper. She'll go about 4-6 hours between feedings at night and about 2 hours during the day. She's getting more awake and alert from day to day. She's been lifting her head up, crawling up my body and standing in m lap for a couples weeks as well as smiling. My favorite thing she does is probably her sleeping. She will open her eyes, look around, make faces/noises and smile while being dead asleep. I could seriously watch is for hours. She was blessed yesterday and Kyle did an amazing job. He is doing great being a dad. It seems like all I'm doing these days is asking him to go get stuff for my while I'm holding/feeding the baby or handing her off to him so I can get stuff done or giving her to him when it's mom's bed time but baby isn't ready yet. He seems happy to do it all though and I'm very grateful for all that he does. I love my small but happy family. Unfortunately the time has almost come for us to get back to real life and go back to Utah with Lucy and be parents on our own. I'm sad to leave home after being here so long but kind of excited for the adventure. Life couldn't be better.
